Watercolor Roses

 

You must see the watercolor roses technique by Patty Bennet if you haven't already.  The images turn out absolutely gorgeous and her technique is very simple and easy to follow.  She created a video tutorial showing her technique and if you click here, it will bring you to her tutorial.  I couldn't believe how simple it was to create these roses and how absolutely gorgeous they look.

Daffodil Delight Blossom

HYCCT1311 - Peace and Quiet - Challenge: Make a card that's full of peace and quiet. NO WORDS on the front. Let your image(s) do the talking and get your message across.

Since no words could be used on the card front I went with a strong, bold image and used the ornate blossom as my focal point.  I stamped the image using pear pizzazz on my main panel and then stamped a second time on scrap card stock with daffodil delight and fussy cut the center blossom.  It is difficult to see in the photo but the center blossom was spritzed with frost white shimmer mist just to give a little bit of sparkle.

Secret Garden Anniversary

 

This is my 2nd card for the AOCC using two or more dies.  I wasn't originally going to buy this set since I have so many flower stamps already but I couldn't resist because it had the matching framelit dies.  It was so nice not having to "fussy" cut the flowers.  I wanted the embossed layer of mellow moss card stock to stand out a little more so I used a sponge dauber and white craft ink to highlight the embossing.

I made this card for a friend's birthday, but the more I looked at it I realized it could be a card for almost any occasion (birthday, anniversary, wedding, thank you, sympathy, etc).  To get the flourishes lined up I used my stamp-a-ma-jig.  I love the clean and simple look and feel of this card.

Anniversary with Framelits

I made this card for my sister and brother-in-law's anniversary.  My sister's favorite color is purple so that determined my color scheme.  I wanted to use my framelits which coordinates so nicely with the stamp set "Apothecary Art".

Fifth Avenue Wedding

This card was so difficult to photograph to show the embossed roses. I took so many pictures and finally decided that the best pictures were the ones with the card at an angle. I wanted the card to match the color of the invitation and the cherry cobbler card stock was almost a perfect match. I wish the picture was better but I had a wedding to get to and couldn't get more pictures. The roses and the sentiment were stamped on cherry cobbler card stock using versa mark ink and embossed with black embossing powder. The sentiment was punched out using the full heart punch and mounted on the scallop heart of hearts embosslit. The ribbon is from the discontinued ribbon set called valet.

Ornate Blossom Anniversary

I've been wanting to use this stamp and I needed an anniversary card for my sister and her husband and thought this would be perfect since it isn't really very floral and feminine even though the stamp is called "Ornate Blossom". I wasn't sure what color to use and was looking through my DSP and found that I had the Greenhouse Gala DSP, which coordinates perfectly with this stamp, and decided to use baja breeze ink. I knew that I wanted the blossom part of the image to stand out so first I stamped the image onto a 2 3/4" x 3" piece of whisper white card stock using early espresso ink and then stamped another image on a scrap piece of whisper white card stock using baja breeze ink and cut out the center blossom. Before I attached the baja breeze stamped image to the main image I wanted to add some subtle sparkle so I spritzed the piece using frost white shimmer mist and then attached it to the main image with dimensionals. The stamped panel was layered onto some baja breeze card stock and then early espresso card stock. The DSP was layered onto baja breeze card stock adhered to the whisper white card base and then the stamped image piece was added. To finish the card I attached some early espresso satin ribbon.

Fabulous Florets

This is the card I sent to my mother-in-law for her birthday. She always had a garden full of flowers and loved to spend time growing many different varieties. Since she is in a nursing home now she rarely gets a chance to get out but when she does she loves to just sit outside in the sunshine enjoying nature. Since she lives in another state I make sure to send her cards made using my flower stamps. When I first saw this set in the mini catalog I knew I had to have it and this is the first card I have made using this set. I stamped the blossoms using pretty in pink and pink passion ink twice on whisper white card stock and then cut them out and layered them using dimensionals. The blossoms were spritzed with frost white shimmer mist which helped to tone down the pink passion ink. The stem image was stamped on whisper white card stock using certainly celery ink and then the blossoms were attached with dimensionals. The flower panel was attached to a layer of pretty in pink and then pink passion with a scalloped edge on the right side. A piece of whisper white card stock was embossed using the framed tulip embossing folder and then trimmed to 3 7/8" x 5 1/8". The embossed layer was attached to a piece of pink passion (4" x 5 1/4") then to a piece of pretty in pink (4 1/8" x 5 3/8") and then the entire panel was attached to a standard A2 card base of whisper white (4 1/4" x 5 1/2"). The sentiment was stamped onto whisper white card stock using pink passion ink and then the end was notched to create a banner and then adhered to a piece of pretty in pink with the end notched to match.

Spring Flowers

This card started out as a monochromatic card but once I had it together it seemed to need something else. I decided to add the butterflies but didn't want them to be to bright or have to much of a contrast so I went with barely banana card stock. The card base was stamped first with the sanded background stamp using mellow moss ink and then stamped with the french script background stamp using white craft ink. The main image was stamped with white craft ink on mellow moss card stock and them embossed with white embossing powder. The flower image was mounted to whisper white card stock but then I decided it needed something so I punch a strip of whisper white card stock using a fleur de lis border punch and adhered the strip to the left side of the image. The ribbon is some that I picked up at Michael's and the color went great with the mellow moss card stock.

Asian Style Anniversary

My card was inspired by this card that I saw on Splitcoast. I used the same stamp set and kept the same basic layout but I wanted it to be my own creation so I didn't copy it exactly. I only used one of the flower images and they were inked using bravo burgundy, cut out and attached to the branch image with dimensionals. To keep with the Asian inspired stamp images I embossed the black background using the floral screen embossing folder.

Anniversary Bliss

This card will be going to my sister and her husband and it will actually be on time this year. It seems like I miss their anniversary every year and I always feel bad because she never forgets my anniversary. My sister's favorite color is purple and I decided it was time to use concord crush. I really like that the framed tulip embossing folder fits the standard A2 card and doesn't leave a large border. The flourish was stamped in concord crush ink on a piece of whisper white card stock and then spritzed with frost white shimmer mist. The stamped image was then layered on a piece of concord crush card stock and another piece of whisper white card stock. The butterfly was stamped in concord crush ink on a scrap piece of whisper white card stock and cut out. I wanted to add ribbon or lace and tried several different things before deciding on the white organdy ribbon. The ribbon was to wide so I folded it in thirds and added the ribbon slide to hold it in place. I attached the pearls to the card elements and glued the butterfly in place with tombow adhesive.

The Perfect Pair

I made this card to give to my sister and brother-in-law for Valentine's Day. The boxer shorts are from a SU set called "On the Line" that was discontinued several years ago but I just can't seem to part with my stamp sets. The bikini underwear were created using the tag punch. The leg openings were drawn on with a marker using a 1/2" circle that I had punched from a piece of white card stock and then I lined up the circle with the points on the tag. To create the clothesline I used some black twine and mini clothespins that I've had in my stash for years.

Love Bugs

I gave this card to my son and daughter-in-law for Valentine's Day along with a small box of Red Velvet Cake Balls. I found the recipe for the cake balls here. The recipe says that you will get 45 - 50 cake balls but I ended up with over 80. It just depends on how large or small you make them. The card is only the size of a note card. I had some blank note cards that I had purchased a couple of years ago and I'm trying to use supplies that I own before purchasing more. This is just a quick and cute card.

Owl Always Love You!

I made this card for my husband for Valentine's Day after seeing this card. I changed a few things but kept the same layout. I don't have the letterpress plates or the glass glitter so I improvised using supplies I have. The glitter paper is from DCWV glitter pack and the ribbon I purchased from Michael's a couple of years ago. The large black button I found in my button box and I added the corduroy brad. I also added a small heart, another branch and the eyelet border.

Love Letter

Although I made this as a Valentine's Day card I think it could be used for an anniversary or a wedding. Again I stayed very monochromatic with this card. For the embossed background, I used a brayer and pretty in pink ink on the embossing folder. By using a brayer, you can control the ink on the embossing folder so that it only goes on the raised images. After embossing the white card stock I sprayed it with frost white shimmer mist to give it a little sparkle. It's very subtle but I think it adds a nice touch.

Life's Moments

Here is another card using the Elements of Style set. I think this stamp set is becoming a favorite of mine. There are so many occasions that this stamp set can be used for. The colors I chose for this card are very soft and serene looking. I'll have to see how bolder colors will look using this same stamp.
