"WTF"

Hopefully nobody took offense to my blog post title.  In this case the "WTF" stands for "Who's Turning Forty".  What did you think it meant?  Of course it could also be used for someone turning fifty.  There are many things the "WTF" could mean like "Wow That's Fantastic", "Who Totally Forgot" or "Where's The Fun".  I'm sure all of you could come up with even more.

Graphic Squares

I wanted to try something new and I needed a masculine birthday card and this card is a completely different style of card from what I normally create.  I used my square nestabilities dies to cut various sizes of squares and just started laying them out on the card front until I was happy with the design and then I glued them all down.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Vintage Labels
Paper:  Whisper White, Sage Shadow, Bordering Blue, Not Quite Navy

Wonderful Weaves

I went digging through some of my older stamp sets to come up with something different for a masculine card and saw this set called "Wonderful Weaves".  The images remind me of fabric that would be used for a man's sport coat.  I inked up the images and spritzed them with water and then stamped them onto some watercolor paper. I'm not sure if I should have used more water or possibly wet the watercolor paper first but I was afraid that I would end up with images that were blurred or just big splotches of color.  I'll have to experiment more with this technique.  I do like how the card turned out and overall I'm pleased with the result.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Wonderful Weaves, Happiest Birthday Wishes
Paper:  Watercolor, More Mustard, Old Olive, Not Quite Navy, Black
Ink:  More Mustard, Old Olive, Not Quite Navy, Black
Accessories:  Small & Large Star Punches, 1/4" Circle Punch, Spritzer, Dimensionals

Framed Grunge Grid

Another Monday so another masculine card.  There are lots of little elements and touches on this card that look like they took lots of time to achieve but this is actually quite a simple card.  I love the brown and blue together with just a touch of gold.  This would be a great birthday card for a teen too!

Masculine Christmas Deer

The June 2014 Christmas card challenge was to create a manly card in honor of Father's Day.  I knew immediately that I wanted to create a card with this reindeer but I also wanted to incorporate the traditional Christmas colors of red and green.  I kept the layout very clean so that the die cut reindeer could stand out.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  More Merry Messages
Paper:  Very Vanilla, Garden Green, Soft Suede, Merry Moments DSP
Ink:  Soft Suede, Versa Mark
Accessories:  Oval Nestabilities Dies, Reindeer Flight Die (Tim Holtz), Gold Embossing Powder, Red Rhinestones, Dimensionals

Z-Fold Masculine Birthday

It's Monday again so time for another masculine card.  This z-fold card doesn't appear to have anything stamped on it but the stamped image is hidden beneath the designer paper ties.  I used the stamp set called "Best Dad Ever" and stamped the ties on whisper white card stock and then stamped the ties again on various scraps of designer paper and cut them out and adhered them over the images on the white paper.  Now it looks like a wardrobe of ties!

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Best Dad Ever
Paper:  Whisper White, Barely Banana, Brocade Blue, Sarah DSP
Ink:  Brocade Blue
Accessories:  Rhinestones, 2-Way Glue Pen

Tasteful Trims Birthday

I can't believe a month has gone by since my last blog post.  Since it is Monday, how about a masculine card.  This was the card I made for my nephew who turned sixteen in July.  I've made this same card before but I used various shades of blue so I guess you can say I am CASEing myself.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Delightful Dozen
Paper:  Very Vanilla, Peach Parfait, Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, Only Orange, Really Rust
Ink:  Peach Parfait, Cajun Craze
Accessories:  Tasteful Trims Bigz Die, Cajun Craze Ribbon, Vintage Brads, Dimensionals

Punch Art Wrenches

It's Monday again and here is another masculine card.  This card was for my brother-in-law who is a mechanic and it incorporates some punch art.   To create the wrench you will need a strip of basic gray card stock that is 1/2" wide and about 2 3/4" long; at one end you will adhere a 1 1/4" circle that was punched using the word window punch and at the other end is a 3/4" circle that was punched around the itty bitty flower (hopefully this make sense).

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Itty Bitty Banners
Paper:  Whisper White, Basic Gray, Black, Bordering Blue, Island Indigo, DCWV Metallic
Ink:  Black
Accessories:  1 1/4" & 3/4" Circle Punches, Word Window Punch, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch ,Oval Nestabilities Die, Herringbone Embossing Folder, Bitty Banners Framelits, Mini Silver Brads, Dimensionals

Paper:  Whisper White, Brocade Blue, Pool Party DSP
Ink:  Black
Accessories:  1 1/4" and 1 3/8" Circle Punches, Black Grosgrain Ribbon, Dimensionals

Birthday Stars

I thought since today is July 4th this post should be in keeping with the day.  Sorry, no blue on this card but it has red and white and stars.  It is also a birthday card and since the 4th of July is considered America's birthday hopefully this works.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  For the Birds
Paper:  Whisper White, Ruby Red, Ruby Red DSP

Masculine Birthday Wishes

I got to thinking that since most of us struggle with masculine cards (including me), I would make an effort to post masculine cards on Monday's and call it "Masculine Monday".  Hopefully, I will be able to come up with enough ideas without repeating myself and also create a nice stash of masculine cards for myself.  I tend to create masculine cards that use geometric shapes whether they are circles, squares, stars, etc.  I don't own many stamps that I would necessarily consider masculine so that is probably why I tend to go for geometric shapes.  This card incorporates both circles and stars but one doesn't overpower the other.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Happiest Birthday Wishes
Paper:  Very Vanilla, Close to Cocoa, More Mustard, Not Quite Navy, More Mustard DSP, Not Quite Navy DSP
Ink:  Not Quite Navy
Accessories:  Circle Nestabilities Dies, Small Star Punch, Large Star Punch, Vintage Brads, Dimensionals

Tasteful Trim Masculine Birthday

WOW!!  I can't believe that the last time I posted anything to my blog was at the end of March! I have been stamping and making cards but just haven't had much time to keep up with my blog.  My intentions of course are to blog my creations since I take the pictures, edit the size and make minor color adjustments but I just never seem to find the time to post them.  I do have several cards to post, so at least for the next couple of weeks you will see some of the cards I have created over the past couple of months.

I know we all struggle to make masculine cards so lets start with a masculine birthday card.  This card uses several shades of blue (some have been discontinued) and the tasteful trim bigz die for a quick and simple card.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Delightful Dozen
Paper:  Whisper White, Brocade Blue, Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, Not Quite Navy, Blue Bayou
Ink:  Brocade Blue, Night of Navy
Accessories:  Tasteful Trim Bigz Die, Night of Navy Grosgrain Ribbon, Mat Pack, Paper Piercing Tool, Mini Silver Brads, Mini Glue Dots, Dimensionals

Father's Day Tie

I've made cards very similar to this in the past but I never get tired of this design.  Here is a link to a previous card I've made using different colors.  Just by changing the sentiment this card would make a great birthday card too.

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper:  Very Vanilla, Barely Banana, Sara DSP
Ink:  Black
Accessories:  Barely Banana Grosgrain Ribbon, Bashful Blue Rhinestone, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Dimensionals
