Father's Day Tie

 

I've made cards very similar to this in the past but I never get tired of this design.  Here is a link to a previous card I've made using different colors.  Just by changing the sentiment this card would make a great birthday card too.

Simple Masculine Card

A quick and simple masculine card that could be used for many different occasions.  Although there are flowers in the designer paper, the colors and the coordinating plaid paper keeps this more masculine.

Penguin Paradise

My grandson is almost 3 1/2 years old and he loves to be with me in my stamping space. There are so many neat things for him to explore and he loves to color. He also likes to help turn the handle on the Big Shot and tells me he needs to "crank it". A couple of weeks ago he was spending the weekend with me and he was my assistant to create this card for him to give to his Dad. I didn't think he would do well with stamping an image so I went looking for something that he could easily glue or tape to a card base and I found these penguin images from the Penguin Paradise Simply Scrappin' Kit that was retired several years ago. I prepped the card base using bashful blue card stock and then tore some strips to create waves. The waves edges were sponged using white craft ink and then I added a few clouds too. I had my grandson attach the penguin images to the card base and all I did was tell him that he had to put them at the bottom in the water. The large penguin was attached with double sided tape and the small one was attached using dimensionals (I did have to fix the small one since it was lopsided). Of course he kept asking me when he could "crank it" and he wasn't happy that this card was not being embossed. Needless to say I had to put some card stock in an embossing folder so he could "crank it". While he was doing that I added the large fish using dimensionals then stamped and attached the sentiment.

Sail Away

This is the card I made for my husband for Father's Day. I wanted to create the look of a porthole and hopefully I achieved that. To cut the porthole I used the Spellbinders Nestabilities circle dies. The sailboat was stamped onto whisper white card stock using night of navy ink and stamped again onto vellum card stock so I could cut out the sails. The sails were attached to the main image using mini glue dots at only the top and bottom section of the sails so that I could create a 3D effect with the sails. I wanted to keep the card very clean and simple so I decided not the emboss the night of navy panel and just added the sentiment at the bottom.

Jacket, Shirt and Tie

These 2 cards were created for one of the executive manager's birthday where I work. He doesn't always wear a suit to work but, when he does these cards are the kind of look that portray him. The suit idea came from a tutorial that I found here.

I changed a couple of things from the tutorial so that the card would fit in a standard A2 envelope. I also used a corner rounder punch to give the shoulders of the suit a better look and added a small piece of card stock for the pocket square under the ribbon.

The shirt sleeve card was created so that my co-workers could all sign a card to give him as well. The same background paper was used so that the cards would coordinate with each other. The background paper was cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and attached to a standard A2 card front in whisper white. The cuff of the shirt sleeve measures 4 1/4" x 2 1/4" and is attached to a piece of whisper white card stock. Using a corner rounder punch, I rounded the bottom right side of the main card and the cuff portion. The stitching on the cuff was done with a straight edge and a fine tip marker and then attached to the main card with dimensionals. The greeting was placed vertically to represent the opening of the sleeve.

Husband's Father's Day Card

This is the last Father's Day card I needed to make this year. I'll give this card to my husband. He likes to wear Hawaiian shirts in the summer when he is just hanging out on the deck. This is also an origami shirt but the DSP is cut at 4"x6" so that I could layer it on the other pieces of card stock and the brads look like buttons. I like the smaller size of this shirt since it gave me room to add the sentiment.

Quick Father's Day Cards

Father's Day is coming soon and I needed to get a few cards ready. I made 3 cards very similar in nature to a previous card that was posted except I made these origami shirt cards to look like Hawaiian shirts. The recipients will be my father-in-law, my brother-in-law and my son. If you look closely at the pink printed shirt you will see that the brads look like buttons. I didn't have purple or blue brads that looked like buttons so I just used what was closest in color to the papers.
