Sweet Baby Whale

 

This was for a baby shower I was invited to and since the couple found out they are having a boy it was nice not having to make something gender neutral.  I love this little whale image and wanted to use this on the card and I've had this designer paper in may stash for so long it was nice being able to incorporate this with the whale.

Sweet Baby

 

A quick and cute baby card that was a part of a set of cards I made for a friend of mine.  Although this card could be for either a boy or girl for some reason I see it as a card for a baby boy.  I think it might be because the designer paper has stripes of blue.

Bambi for the Baby

HYCCT1323 - Impossible Things Happen - Challenge: Make a card inspired by a fairy tale.

I chose the fairy tale "Bambi" because this little deer stamp reminds me of him.

Sweet Baby Onesies

My daughter-in-law's sister had a baby girl 2 days before Christmas and this was the card I made for her.  Among the items I gave her was a set of onesies (love those) and I wanted to make a matching card and this is what I came up with.

Sweet Baby Boy

Another card with a quilted background using the pennant builder punch and DSP.  The most difficult part in creating the quilted look is keeping the images straight.  I decided not to add stitching and keep the background clean.

Baby Elephant

HYCCT Challenge Dated October 30th - Cork, Canvas or Clay

The challenge was to make a card using cork, canvas or clay.  I started looking through my stash of things and came across some little clay animals that I had purchased several years ago when a friend of mine was having a baby and I still had 3 of them left (a duck, a giraffe and an elephant).  I wasn't sure which one I would use until I picked out the DSP and the elephant was the best match with the colors.  To create the triangle patchwork background I used the pennant builder punch and delicate dots dsp.  The stitching was created using the zigzag looking stamp from "All in a Row" inked with craft white and embossed with white embossing powder.  The card came out even better than what I had pictured in my head.

Sailboat Punch Art

My niece is expecting a baby boy any day now and is going with a sailboat theme for the baby's room. I wanted to make her some thank you cards for the gifts she received at her baby shower and thought I would try to make something that matched the theme. I wanted the sailboats to be a little whimsical but I don't own the stamp set "Nursery Necessities" so I had to create my own with punches. Once I figured out the size sailboat I wanted it didn't take me long to complete 24 of them. Probably most of the time taken to create any card is in the planning and design. Once that is done it is pretty easy to mass produce any card once you have all of the elements prepared. The bedding is all blue but I thought it needed a pop of color so I added the red. In keeping with the nautical theme the sentiment reminded me of a life preserver ring and of course I had to add a some kind of rope or knot, in this case it is bakers twine knotted in a square knot.

Twin Monkeys

This card was for my niece who had twin boys this past Sunday. She did a monkey themed nursery and I thought I would try and incorporate that into her card. I posted a card earlier this week with a monkey on it but in order to have two monkeys on the card front I needed to make them smaller than my original punch art monkey. I used most of the same basic punches but made modifications so the finished monkeys wouldn't be so large. Once I had them made I knew that I wanted to have one of them hanging from some vines and decided to add in the tree with vines. To create the tree I punch 6 ovals from crumb cake card stock using the 3/4" x 1 15/16" oval punch and then snipped off the rounded parts. I then stamped the ovals using the textured image from "The Art of Life" stamp set and sponged all the edges using crumb cake ink. To create the palm leaves I used the 5 petal flower punch and punched one in certainly celery card stock and one in wild wasabi card stock. I then cut each one into 5 separate petal pieces and snipped around each one to create the palm leaf and then sponged all of the pieces using wild wasabi ink. The vines were created using the branch from the 2-step bird punch and the sizzlits scribbles swirls with certainly celery card stock. Once all of the pieces were punched, stamped, and sponged they were adhered to the card front using tombow adhesive. Before adhering the swirls vine piece I attached the baby monkey using dimensionals and then wove the vine piece through the tail and glued to the card front. I actually like the smaller monkey more than my original creation.

Baby Monkey

A friend of mine had a baby boy a couple of weeks ago and I needed a card. I bought the baby an outfit with a monkey on it and thought I'd try to make a card to match so I gathered together my punches and got to work. Once all of the elements were punched out the little baby monkey came together quickly. I won't go into detail on putting the monkey together but I will give some tips. I punched out a large oval as a base to glue the body and head to so that I could work with each section separately and also so that I could use a dimensional for the head section. The arms, legs and tail were all glued to the back of the body section before attaching to the oval base so that it has a clean look on the back. Baby Card

I made this card for everyone to sign for the co-worker of mine that is due to have her baby boy soon. The cards I posted yesterday were the thank you cards I made for her and I stayed with the same jungle theme for this card. I made the card larger than the standard A2 card since about two dozen people were signing it.

Thank You Cards

A co-worker of mine will be going out on maternity leave soon and we had a baby shower for her. We all put money in to get her a gift card for Babies-R-Us and I also made her a set of 8 thank you cards. She found out she is having a boy and is doing the room with a jungle theme so I decided to make the cards to match her theme. All of these cards came together very quickly and she loved them. For each animal I made the cards slightly different but they all work together since I used the same background paper on all of the cards.

Baby Boy Card

My niece is due to have a baby boy next month and I've been working on a baby afghan for her and finally finished it. Yeah! My husband had to go to Massachusetts yesterday and he will be taking her the baby afghan along with this card. The baby afghan was done in a variegated blue and white yarn and I wanted the card to have the same colors. I really like this stamp set for making baby cards and cards for young children because the images look like something a child would actually draw.

It's Twins!

This card was inspired by the card I saw here. I needed a baby card for someone who had twin boys recently and I wanted to do more punch art. On the inspiration card the legs and tail were drawn on but I wanted to see if I could create the legs and tail using punches. I've been enjoying creating cards using punch art, it's fun seeing the images turn out looking like I had hoped. It is amazing how many images you can create using punches and card stock. I'll never give up creating cards using stamps and ink but it is nice to try new things to keep the creative mind working.

Baby Giraffe

Another baby boy! Seems like most of the people I know are having boys. I knew that this new set from SU would make a great baby card. It sort of reminds me of the "Wild About You" set. I think all of the images are great. Even though the "Wild About You" set has been retired I still think I'll hold on to it. This was a quick and easy card that came together in no time.

Baby Card

A co-worker of mine and his wife recently adopted a baby boy. He was able to take 6 weeks paid leave from work and also gets financial help with legal fees from our employer. He just returned to work this week and we all put in money towards a gift card to Toys-R-Us/Babies-R-Us and this was the card we presented to him with the gift card. I think he was very surprised that we would do something like that for him, his wife and their new son. I love how this card turned out. I have used this layout on cards before as I like to use various background papers and this layout allows for multiple background papers.

Thank You Card

I decided to create some Thank You cards for my co-worker that is expecting her second child. She already knows that she is having a boy and I knew that I wanted to use this stamp set to create the cards. I really like this layout and I thought the zebra would be the perfect stamp for the cards. I love doing baby cards and I never have trouble trying to come up with something.

Baby Onesie Card

I made this card for a co-worker that is having a baby boy this summer. I have seen many of these cards on Splitcoast and I knew that it was something that I wanted to try and make. They look more complicated to make than they really are. I believe the idea originated with Lauren Meader (she even has a tutorial on her blog). She has many ideas that will inspire your creativity.

Baby Shower Invitations

This is what I came up with for a baby shower invitation for my daughter-in-law. I needed something simple since I am handling all the arrangements for the shower. We already know that it's a boy so that made it easy as far as color choices.
