Black & White

I made this card for a friend's birthday, but the more I looked at it I realized it could be a card for almost any occasion (birthday, anniversary, wedding, thank you, sympathy, etc).  To get the flourishes lined up I used my stamp-a-ma-jig.  I love the clean and simple look and feel of this card.

Elegant Wedding

Happy New Year!  

The first post of 2013 is a wedding card I gave to my nephew and his wife. They were married on New Year's Eve in Providence, RI. A great time was had by all!  I wanted the card to reflect the colors from the wedding invitation which had a hint of bright pink.

This card is a CASE of one created by Jenna Barber. She embossed the rose images with black embossing powder and I used white embossing powder but it is basically the same card.

I did not make any resolutions this year but decided instead to set goals that hopefully, will be attainable. One of my goals for the year is to upload to my blog more often. I hope to post something on a weekly basis and hopefully several times a week.

Wedding Collage

After seeing this collage created by Connie Tumm, I immediately knew that I want to give something similar to my nephew and his wife. The wedding colors were purple and silver and the invitations were very similar to the DCWV metallic paper so that was my starting point for colors. The square to the right of the silhouette couple is a part of their invitation with their initials in it and I just added a small pearl accent in the center. I absolutely love how this turned out. There are so many elements that were used to create this I can't remember them all. The finished piece is framed in a black shadow box frame that I picked up at Michaels or Joann's. It came in a set of 3 frames. I couldn't get a good picture of it in the frame because of the glass.

Elegant Couple

My husband and I attended a wedding for our nephew last week and this was the card we gave the happy couple. The couple are both in the Navy and have been legally married since February 12th of this year but wanted to have a ceremony and reception with family and friends. They asked my husband to be the officiant and he happily obliged.

When I saw this Inkadinkado stamp set at Joann's I had to have it. I love the silhouette image of the couple. I began with a piece of perfect plum card stock measuring 9 1/2" x 6 1/2" and scored it at 4 3/4" to create a card measuring 4 3/4" x 6 1/2". I embossed some shimmery white card stock that measured 4 1/2" x 3 1/4" using the elegant lines embossing folder and another piece of shimmery white card stock that measured 4 1/2" x 3" using the dots embossing folder and layered them on pale plum card stock measuring 4 5/8" x 6 3/8". A length of white taffeta ribbon was tied around this layer and then adhered to the card base.

The image of the couple was stamped on shimmery white card stock in versa mark ink and embossed with black embossing powder. Once I had the couple stamped and embossed I centered the sentiment below that image and stamped and embossed that too. The couple image was layered on a piece of perfect plum card stock and adhered to the card base using dimensionals. I added some pearls to the circles on the elegant lines embossed image and added more sparkle to the bride's dress using frost white stickles.

Wedding Arrangement

This "floral" arrangement was created for a co-worker. I have made various arrangements for her to give as gifts at the many weddings or events she attends. This arrangement was for her to give as a wedding gift. The wedding colors were green and chocolate. She provided most of the supplies along with 25 one dollar bills. Since I have made other arrangements for her I wanted to make something a little different. I started with creating the flowers using the dollar bills. I wasn't sure what kind of flower to make using the dollar bills so I went searching on the interent and found this tutorial. I made 4 flowers using 4 one dollar bills and 3 flowers using 3 one dollar bills. I also made 12 flowers using Hershey kisses as the centers and two 3" scallop circles punched from chocolate chip card stock as the flower petals. Once I had all the flowers made I just started arranging them in the vase that was filled with glass pebbles. To finish the look I created a large bow and added that at the front of the arrangement.

Fifth Avenue Wedding

This card was so difficult to photograph to show the embossed roses. I took so many pictures and finally decided that the best pictures were the ones with the card at an angle. I wanted the card to match the color of the invitation and the cherry cobbler card stock was almost a perfect match. I wish the picture was better but I had a wedding to get to and couldn't get more pictures. The roses and the sentiment were stamped on cherry cobbler card stock using versa mark ink and embossed with black embossing powder. The sentiment was punched out using the full heart punch and mounted on the scallop heart of hearts embosslit. The ribbon is from the discontinued ribbon set called valet.

Hershey Kiss Roses

This was created for a co-worker. I had made something for her previously and she liked it so much that she asked me to make something to give as a wedding present. I wanted it to look more like a rose and not be so obvious that they were Hershey kisses. Each Hershey kiss rose was wrapped using the decorative petals that can be found at almost any craft store in the wedding section. Some roses have 2 petals and some have 3. There are 25 flowers in the vase and each one has a dollar bill attached to it. To make the vase look fuller some of the roses also had gold tulle attached. The vase was filled with glass floral pebbles to keep the roses in place and wrapped with an organdy ribbon bow.

Pink & Girly

I can't believe the challenges will be over in a few days. Don't worry though you can enter until November 7, 2010 to be eligible for prizes and support a great cause. This is the card I made for the "All About Girls in Pink" challenge. I knew that I wanted to paper piece this dress and when I found my DCWV glittery card stock I knew this dress would look great. I stamped the dress and the shoes onto the pink glittered card stock and cut them out. The dress image was stamped onto white card stock in versa mark ink and embossed with black embossing powder and the shoes were stamped with black ink onto white card stock. I adhered the dress and shoe cutout pieces onto the stamped images using tombow glue. I inked the embossing folder with pink pirouette and embossed a piece of white card stock cut at 4"x 5 1/4" and assembled the card.

White Wedding

Friends of mine got married recently and their wedding invitation was very simple and elegant and I wanted to create an elegant card for them. I used whisper white and shimmery white card stock and various embossing folders to create this card. A very simple but elegant card.

Wedding Card

This card was for my niece and her husband who were married on Saturday. The wedding was in Connecticut so my husband and I drove down for the wedding. Unfortunately, the weather was just horrible with rain and gale force winds. We didn't actually make it to the ceremony but were fortunate enough to attend the reception. Even though the weather was awful a good time was had by all. The inspiration for the card I saw here and there was even a template to download.

The dress was made using shimmery white card stock and I used the divine swirls cuttlebug embossing folder for the skirt portion of the dress. After embossing the skirt I used frost white shimmer paint to highlight the swirls in the skirt and added the scalloped edge and half pearls to finish the look. For the lapels on the tuxedo I embossed them using versamark ink and clear embossing powder and the buttons are shiny black brads. Both the dress and tuxedo are raised up using dimensionals. Since the bridesmaids dresses were in burgundy I wanted to try and incorporate that color within the card and decided to mount the dress and tuxedo onto a piece of bravo burgundy card stock that was embossed using the textile cuttlebug embossing folder.

30th Anniversary Card

My husband and I will be celebrating our 30th Anniversary soon and so I created a couple of cards. This is the first card I created using the "Season of Friendship" stamp set and the smallest heart from the "heart to heart" punch. I've had this background paper for quite some time now and thought it would be perfect for what I had in mind for the card. There are actually 30 hearts punched out and put on the tree. The small heart charm I picked up from Michael's.
