Big Birthday Pieces

This is for a nephew that is turning 12, which means he is at that in-between stage now, not quite a teenager but not a little boy. I wanted something fun but not too much like a little boys card. I stayed with primary colors but with a little more sophistication than just red, blue and yellow which I think keeps it from being to juvenile. The navy and burgundy help to tone down the brightness of the yoyo yellow.

Elements of Style in Amethyst

My card was totally inspired by this card I saw on Splitcoast. Karen Barber does amazing work! I was nervous putting the vellum card stock through the xyron machine after I had it all colored. I figured that if it didn't work then I would just make something else. I'm so please with the way it turned out. I love the technique of the double embossing and I'm sure I'll try this again. I made this for my sister's birthday and even though I've never actually seen a purple rose it's my sister's favorite color so I went with it.

Masculine Birthday

This card is for my teenage nephew. I have a difficult time trying to create masculine cards. Maybe that is because I don't actually own many sets with a masculine theme to them. Of course the stamp set "Party Hearty" isn't actually masculine but with the colors that were used I think it works.

Because I Care

I had another sympathy card to make for a friend of mine who just recently lost her father. I wanted something soft and pretty and thought the hydrangea would help me get that effect. The flower blossoms were colored with certainly celery, almost amethyst, mint melody and bliss blue. It is hard to see in the picture but some of the blossoms were highlighted with frost white shimmer paint to give the card a soft glow. I used old olive for the leaves and stem and I wish I would have colored them using a blender pen so that it would have been softer. I'll have to remember that for the next time.

White Wedding

Friends of mine got married recently and their wedding invitation was very simple and elegant and I wanted to create an elegant card for them. I used whisper white and shimmery white card stock and various embossing folders to create this card. A very simple but elegant card.
