Butterfly Sympathy

These cards are never the kind I like to make but inevitably we all need one unexpectedly. My husband’s co-worker just lost her father last week. I never have sympathy cards on hand and when I need one I always have a difficult time deciding on what stamps to use. It seems like I’m always reaching for a flower of some sort to use and I wanted to step out of that comfort zone. I like how it turned out.

Supplies used: Stamps: Ageless Adornment and Warmest Regards Paper: Mauve Mist, Very Vanilla and Basic Black Ink: Versamark and Basic Black Other: Stampin’ Pastels and Mauve Organdy Ribbon.

Snowflake with Bling

The ways to use it challenge on SCS was to use “bling”. I do like cards with some sparkle and shine. The metallic paper is very shiny and of course the rhinestone brad is the “bling”. I love how the metallic paper looks with all the embossed snowflakes. It’s hard to see in the picture but the snowflake is embossed too. This was a very simple and basic layout and sometimes the simpler the better. This card came together very quickly and easily and would make a great holiday card.

Supplies used: Stamps: Snowflakes Paper: Whisper White, Night of Navy and DCWV Metallic Silverleaf Ink: Brilliance Pearlescent Ice Blue Pigment Other: Blue embossing powder, Lt Blue Organdy Ribbon, dimensionals, snowflake brad, blue rhinestone brad (making memories), and Cuttlebug Snowflake embossing folder.

Another Acetate Card

This didn’t turn out exactly as I had envisioned it would, but that happens when creating cards. It’s not that I don’t like the card but I actually had something else pictured when I began. I really wanted white ink, but realized that I didn’t have Stazon white, needless to say I have already ordered the white Stazon and will try another acetate card again once I receive my order.

Supplies used: Stamps: Terrific Tulips and Petal Prints Paper: Acetate, Whisper White, Real Red and Basic Black Ink: Stazon Black, Real Red and Basic Black Other: Red Organdy Ribbon and mini glue dots.

Snowman Acetate Card

I have always wanted to try making an acetate card and it was the technique challenge on SCS last week. Stamping on acetate isn’t that easy. The stamp can slip and then your image will be smudged. It was easier lining up the different layers of cardstock correctly than it was stamping on the acetate. I think it came out cute and I know I will try this technique again.

Supplies used: Stamps: Very Merry and Snow Flurries Paper: Acetate, Whisper White, Bliss Blue and Brilliant Blue Ink: Stazon Ultramarine and Basic Black Other: Royal Blue Organdy Ribbon and mini glue dots.

Bundle Up

This sketch challenge on SCS wasn’t easy for me. I really liked the layout and I’m trying to step out of my comfort zone by creating cards that aren’t your basic 5 ½” x 4 1/4” vertical or landscape layout. This card took me awhile to create. I kept thinking it was missing something, but when I tried brads or eyelets it just didn’t seem right. I ended up stamping the skates on polyshrink and attaching them to the ribbon with silver elastic cord. I’m still not completely convinced that it doesn’t need something else.

Supplies used:
Stamps: Bundle Up
Paper: Old Olive, Real Red, Very Vanilla and Dashing DP
Ink: Old Olive and Real Red Markers
Accessories: Polyshrink, Red Grosgrain Ribbon, Silver Elastic Cord, ticket corner punch, stickles and dimensionals.

Clipboard Calendars

I made these countdown clipboard calendars a few weeks ago. I got the idea for these clipboard calendars from Kathryn’s blog: Katydid Creations. She even has a tutorial with PDF files that you can download. Be sure to visit her blog to view her great work and more of her tutorials. The next calendar I want to create is for a nephew’s birthday. Children are always asking “how many more days until my birthday?” If they have a fun way to countdown the days, they will let you know.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Haunted House, Spooktacular Greetings, Going Batty (wheel)
Paper: Confetti White, Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Eggplant Envy, Baroque Burgundy, Forest Foliage, and Various Background Papers
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Stickles, magnets, steel washers, clipboard, Tag punches, various ribbons, and craft paints.

First Post

This is my first upload and also the first card I’ve made using this set. When I saw this set in the catalog I just had to have it. I think everyone should “Dare to be Fabulous”. It has taken me some time to be brave enough to put something on my blog. I have seen many cards made using this set and finally got inspired enough to put this one out there. I want to thank all the bloggers for their inspirations; if not for them I’m not sure that I would be attempting to do this.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Fabulous Flowers
Paper: Whisper White, Cameo Coral, Chocolate Chip, and Rebecca DP
Ink: Cameo Coral and Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Stickles, ¼” Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon, Rhinestone Brad, Ticket corner punch, Tag corner punch and dimensionals.
