Sara's Birthday Card

My niece Sara's was born on February 29th but when its not a leap year we celebrate her birthday on the 28th. She actually turned 17 this year and this card is perfect for her. She is a little bit of a rebel (just like most girls her age) but she is a really sweet girl. Its hard to believe that she will graduate from high school next year and be going off to college. She says she wants to be an interior designer. I told her she should be a graphic designer, get a job working for Stampin' Up and let me be a product tester. She thought that was funny.

Here is a close-up picture of the skull. You can really see the details with the glitter and crystal effects. This was a really fun card to make.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip, Rose Red, Background(unknown); Ink: Basic Black, Pretty in Pink, Pixie Pink; Stamps: Just Jawing; Other: Polka Dot Ribbon (unknown), dew drops, rhinestone brads, Flower punches, Marvy Mega Scallop Circle punch, Rose Pink glitter, crystal effects, dimensionals

Retro Birthday Card

This card is for a co-workers birthday. She likes the retro look and this card will be perfect for her. Over the years I have given her several cards (birthday, Christmas, etc) and she has kept them all. Every year she decorates her work cubicle with the various handmade cards she has received. I enjoy making cards for people who truly appreciate all the work, creativity and effort that goes into them. I know she will love this card. Unfortunately, the picture doesn't do it justice. I had to take the picture at night and I won't get another opportunity to retake the picture since I have to bring this to work with me tomorrow. Nothing like waiting until the last minute to create a card.

Supplies Used: Paper: Very Vanilla, Baha Breeze, Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip, KI Memories Background; Ink: Baha Breeze, Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink; Stamps: Party Hearty; Other: Chocolate Chip Twill, Chit Chat Rub-Ons, Flower Fusion, Rhinestone Brad, Glitter Pen, Dimensionals

Valentine's Day

I made this card to give to my husband for Valentine's Day. His favorite color is blue and so I wanted to use that instead of red. I don't think it looks to feminine and since its an expression of my feelings for him I thought that the background stamp was perfect. It was not an easy task cutting out the images, especially that butterfly. Although this is a very simple layout it worked well to keep it simple and not to fussy so that it won't end up looking to feminine.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Pacific Point, DCWV Background Paper; Ink: Palette Noir Black, Pacific Point, Bashful Blue, Old Olive; Stamps: Dreams du Jour, Tres Chic; Other: Square Scallop Punch, Grosgrain Ribbon, Dew Drops, Blender Pen, Paper Snips, Dimensionals

Grandson's 1st Birthday

My grandson's 1st birthday is Friday and I've been trying to get things ready. I've had his gifts for about a week now and I've been trying to decide on what to do for a card. I really wanted to do something that coordinated with the invitations and I didn't want anything to babyish. I don't own any large number stamps so I just sketched out the number one and cut it out with paper snips. It was easier than I thought it would be and it turned out great.

Supplies Used: Paper: Naturals White, Real Red, Night of Navy, More Mustard, DCWV Background Papers; Stamps: Pun Fun, Cheery Chat; Ink: Palette Noir Black, Real Red, Ballet Blue, So Saffron; Other: Star Punches, Swiss Dots Embossing Folder, Yellow Rhinestone Brad, Dimensionals

Valentine's Day

I finally got the birthday/Valentine package sent to my daughter so now I have time to get a couple of other cards completed before Valentine's Day. My sister and her husband do so much for my husband and I so I'm always trying to find little ways to let them know how much we really appreciate all that they do for us. I'm very lucky to have them living so close and we try and see each other often. I picked up a few things that I know they will use and thought this card was perfect for them.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Brilliant Blue, Pretty in Pink, DCWV Background Paper; Stamps: Loads of Love; Ink: Palette Noir Black, Going Gray, Bashful Blue, Real Red, Pixie Pink, Pretty in Pink, Summer Sun; Other: Ticket Corner Punch, Circle Punches, Ribbon, Silver Ink Pen, Dimensionals

Sweet Stems

This is another card I created for one of my co-workers February birthdays. I used a glitter pen to highlight all of the stems on the Raspberry Tart DSP. It didn't show up very well but it just adds a subtle glittery effect. If you click on the image you can see the glitter and just how it adds some subtle texture. This card came together very quickly. I have been trying to not hoard my background papers and use them as much as possible on the cards I create. It is getting easier.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Regal Rose, Rose Red, Raspberry Tart DSP; Stamps: Sweet Stems; Ink: Palette Noir Black, Regal Rose, Rose Red, Old Olive; Other: 1 1/4" Circle Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Scallop Edge Punch, Mat Pack, MS Ribbon, Glitter Pen, Dimensionals
