Sweet Baby Onesies

My daughter-in-law's sister had a baby girl 2 days before Christmas and this was the card I made for her.  Among the items I gave her was a set of onesies (love those) and I wanted to make a matching card and this is what I came up with.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Baby Tees Jumbo Wheel

Twisted Easel

I found a video tutorial for this twisted easel card and had to make one.  I absolutely love how this turned out.  Here is the link to the tutorial.  I've only made a couple of these cards since there are several steps in making this card.  I have given them as birthday cards to some very special people and they have loved their cards.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Elements of Style, Just Believe, Vintage Vogue, Sincere Salutations
Paper:  Whisper White, Old Olive, Bella Rose DSP
Ink:  Old Olive, Riding Hood Red

Star For A Day

Another quick card to share today!  In order to get the small star centered in the large star it is easier if you punch the small star first and then center the large star punch over the punched out smaller star.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Vogue Verses, Happy Moments
Paper:  Whisper White, Real Red, Brilliant Blue, Brushed Silver, DSP (unknown)
Ink:  Real Red, Black
Accessories:  Small Star Punch, Large Star Punch, Spiral Punch, Tab Punch, Staple, Dimensionals

Rock Star

I was very happy with the end result of this card.  Not much stamping but lots of impact.  I especially like the glossy stripes and skulls.  To achieve the same glossy effect for the star, I stamped the image in versa mark on whisper white card stock and embossed with black embossing powder.  The star was then punched out using the large star punch and adhered with dimensionals to a star in kiwi kiss card stock.  The most time consuming part of this card was the paper piercing.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  A Little Somethin'
Paper:  Whisper White, Kiwi Kiss, Rockabilly DSP
Ink:  Versa Mark
Accessories:  Black Embossing Powder, Large Star Punch, Black Bakers Twine, Paper Piercing Tool, Mat Pack, Pearls, Dimensionals

Single Cupcake

I'm trying to get ahead of the game for birthday cards this year.  I make a birthday card for each of my co-workers and there are about 25 people in my department and during the month of February there are 5 birthdays.  My original idea for this card was to have 3 cupcakes across the front but it just seemed to crowded, so I put just the one in the center as a focal point and the rest of the card kind of fell into place.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Happiest Birthday Wishes, Darling Dots
Paper:  Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Only Orange, KI Memories DSP
Ink:  Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink, Real Red, Old Olive, Black
Accessories:  Fancy Fan Embossing Folder, Framelits Labels Collection Dies, Pretty in Pink Button, Bakers Twine, Mini Glue Dots, Dimensionals

Zoofari Child's Birthday

The Zoofari stamp set is probably one of those sets that I will keep for some time.  This is a great set for younger children and even baby cards.  I wanted the coloring to look like a child did it but just couldn't bring myself to color outside of the lines;)

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Zoofari, A Little Birdie Told Me
Paper:  Naturals White, Kiwi Kiss, Pacific Point, Morning Sunshine DSP
Ink:  Black, SU Markers
Accessories:  1" & 1 1/4" Circle Punches, Dots Embossing Folder, Dimensionals

Poppies and Sympathy

I struggled with the colors for this card and looking back I should have chosen paler pink colors.  It does look lighter in real life but I still think a paler pink might have looked nicer.  I do like the layout for this card and will definitely use it again.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Pleasant Poppies, Petite Pairs
Paper:  Naturals White, Rose Romance, DCWV Patterned Paper
Ink:  Black, Rose Romance, Certainly Celery
Accessories:  1 1/4" and 1 3/8" Circle Punches, Rose Grosgrain Ribbon, Dimensionals

Hound Dog Punch Art

How many of you remember Droopy Dog from the cartoons?  This dog reminds me of him.  The only thing that is missing is the tuft of hair on top of his head.  This punch art dog is a modified version of one created by Jackie Topia.

For those of you that don't know what Droopy looks like here is an image of him.

Sparkling Cupcake

Since I've posted Christmas cards for the past few days I figured I needed to get back to more traditional cards.  Just a quick birthday card using some of the discontinued items in my stash.  I'm not sure how much I really like this card and I always wonder whether I should post something that I'm not completely happy with.  I think all of us have days when what we pictured in our head doesn't turn out exactly like we had hoped and I think it is a good learning experience.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Sweet Cake
Paper:  Whisper White, Orchid Opulence, Cherry Cobbler
Ink:  Orchid Opulence, Ballet Blue, Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Soft Suede, Daffodil Delight

Thoroughly Modern Ornaments

This is the final card for the January 2013 Christmas card challenge.  There was very little stamping done on this card and I probably could have gotten away without stamping anything at all but where is the fun in that! The ornaments were punched from the Thoroughly Modern DSP using the ornament punch and then I punched just the top portion of the ornament using brushed silver card stock.  The sentiment is from the Merry & Bright rub-ons.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Delightful Decorations
Paper:  Whisper White, Soft Suede, Bermuda Bay, Brushed Silver, Thoroughly Modern DSP
Ink:  Soft Suede, Bermuda Bay
Accessories:  3/4" Circle Punch, Ornament Punch, Dots Embossing Folder, Silver Organdy Ribbon, Rhinestones, Merry & Bright Rub-ons, Mini Glue Dots, Dimensionals

Patchwork Squares

This is card number 3 for the Christmas card challenge using non-traditional colors.  These challenges are inspiring me to use some of the products that Stampin' Up has discontinued, especially card stock.  I used mellow moss and pale plum card stock and ink for this card which has been discontinued for some time.  I know some demonstrators either sell, donate or just get rid of discontinued card stock and stamps but I just can't seem to part with them.  I know that I will be able to use a good deal of supplies with these challenges and I hope that others will be inspired by my creations.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Winter Patches, Four the Holidays, Blizzard Wheel
Paper:  Whisper White, Mellow Moss, Pale Plum, Perfect Plum
Ink:  Black, Mellow Moss, Pale Plum, Perfect Plum
Accessories:  Mini Buttons, Jewels, 1 1/4" Square Punch, Scallop Square Punch, Dots Embossing Folder, Linen Thread, Twill Tape, Crystal Effects, Dimensionals

Frosty Friends

In my previous post I mentioned that I signed-up for the Christmas card challenge and this is my second card using non-traditional colors.  The snowmen were stamped onto crumb cake card stock and colored using a blender pen and craft white ink.  I did use red and green to color the various elements on the snowmen but used really rust, chocolate chip and crumb cake card stock for my "non-traditional" colors.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Frosty Friends, Season of Joy, Canvas
Paper:  Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Really Rust
Ink:  Black, Really Rust, Craft White, Various SU Markers
Accessories:  Chocolate Chip Twill Ribbon, 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" Circle Punches, Scallop Circle Punch, Really Rust Eyelet, Blender Pen, Dimensionals

Colorful Christmas Trees

I decided to sign-up for the Christmas Card Challenges this year on Splitcoast so that I'm not scrambling to complete over 100 cards in November.  The challenge for January was non-traditional colors which wasn't as difficult to achieve as I thought it would be.  Even though I usually need 100+ cards for the holidays I only signed up to make 8 every month for the challenges.  That will get me close to the number of cards I need and also gives me the opportunity to create other cards outside of the challenges.

For this card I opted for something very different from my usual style.  I like the look of the card and it wasn't very difficult to make and I just might have to do a few more like this. The tree images were stamped on acetate using black staz-on and colored with sharpie markers.  Using a pencil I made a mark 1" from each side and used the 1 3/8" square punch to create the window and then stamped the sentiment through the window and attached the acetate piece using eyelets.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Festive Favorites, Four the Holidays, Snow Flurries
Paper:  Whisper White, Orchid Opulence, Acetate
Ink:  Black Staz-on, Basic Gray, Orchid Opulence
Accessories:  Sharpie Markers, White Eyelets, Bobbin Ribbon (Michael's), 1 3/8" Square Punch, 3/4", 1" and 1 1/4" Circle Punches, Silver Cord

Masculine Party Hearty

Although the background paper used on this card isn't from Stampin' Up the colors in the paper coordinated nicely with always artichoke and brocade blue.  Can you believe I still have a few sheets of brocade blue card stock!

Stamps:  Party Hearty, Tags So Much
Paper:  Whisper White, Brocade Blue, Always Artichoke, KI Memories Designer Paper Pad
Ink: Always Artichoke, Brocade Blue
Accessories:  Spiral Punch, 3/4" Circle Punch, Small Tag Punch, Dimensionals

Sweet Baby Boy

Another card with a quilted background using the pennant builder punch and DSP.  The most difficult part in creating the quilted look is keeping the images straight.  I decided not to add stitching and keep the background clean.

Paper:  Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Delicate Dots DSP
Ink:  Bashful Blue, Crumb Cake
Accessories:  Pennant Builder Punch, Nestabilities Circle and Scallop Circle Dies, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Crumb Cake Taffeta Ribbon, Dimensionals

Elegant Wedding

Happy New Year!

The first post of 2013 is a wedding card I gave to my nephew and his wife. They were married on New Year's Eve in Providence, RI. A great time was had by all!  I wanted the card to reflect the colors from the wedding invitation which had a hint of bright pink.

This card is a CASE of one created by Jenna Barber. She embossed the rose images with black embossing powder and I used white embossing powder but it is basically the same card.

I did not make any resolutions this year but decided instead to set goals that hopefully, will be attainable. One of my goals for the year is to upload to my blog more often. I hope to post something on a weekly basis and hopefully several times a week.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Fifth Avenue Floral, Occasional Quotes
Paper:  Whisper White, Black, Pink Passion
Ink:  Versa Mark
Accessories:  White Embossing Powder, Black Embossing Powder, White Satin Ribbon, Pearls, Mini Glue Dots, Dimensionals
