Elf Ornament

This is my last post for this year. I thought I would show you the ornament I made this year for my co-workers. I have been making ornaments for my co-workers for a few years now and each year it becomes more challenging to come up with something. I had to make 24 ornaments this year so they had to be something that wouldn't take me an hour to create just one and this is what I came up with. Once I had all of the elements punched out the elf was easy to put together using tombow multi-purpose adhesive. The following elements were used to make this ornament.

Punches:
3" Scallop Circle
2 1/2" Circle
Ornament Punch (head & hat)
2 Step Bird Punch (wing for ears)
Oval Scallop & Small Oval (hat trim)
Trio Flower Punch (hat pom pom)
1/4" Circle (nose, eyes, eyelids)
1/8" Circle on Crop-a-Dile (pupils)
Card Stock:
Face, Ears, Nose and Eyelids - Blush Blossom
Hat and 3" Scallop Circle - Real Red
Eyes - Whisper White
Pupils - Black
Pom Pom and Hat Trim - DCWV Glitter Paper
2 1/2" Circle - Old Olive

Ink:
Regal Rose - Sponged on face, ears and nose
Black Marker - smile
White Gel Pen - freckles on cheeks

Other:
Silver Cord
1/16" Circle Punch

Elegant Embossed Ornament

I saw this card on splitcoast and liked the antique elegance of it. This is my creation of the card that inspired me.

Here are the measurements for the card:
Card Base Very Vanilla - 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Crumb Cake Layer - 4" x 5 1/4"
Cherry Cobble Layer - 3 3/4" x 5"
Very Vanilla Stamped Layer - 3 1/2" x 4 3/4"
Cherry Cobbler Punched Border Layer - 1 3/4" x 3 3/4"

The very vanilla layer was stamped using the french script background stamp inked with crumb cake and then stamped with baroque motifs inked with cherry cobbler. I sponged all the edges with crumb cake and adhered this layer to the cherry cobbler layer and then added the cherry cobbler punched border and attached vanilla satin ribbon around the punched border piece. This layer was attached to the crumb cake layer and then adhered to the very vanilla card base. The ornament was inked with versa mark ink and then cherry cobbler ink and stamped on very vanilla card stock and embossed with clear embossing powder. Using the ornament punch the image was punched out and adhered to the card with tombow adhesive. The ornament hanger was drawn with an Atyou Spica gold glitter pen and then the gold bow and pearls were attached.

Mitten Card

This card started with a standard A2 card base (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") and then I drew the mitten shape to fit the base so that I would be able to mail it in a standard card envelope without losing to much of the base card size. You can find templates for mittens on the internet but it wasn't hard to create. Once I had the card base cut out I wanted to give it some texture so I stamped the print pattern and canvas background stamps using brilliant blue ink onto the mitten shape. The snowmen were stamped on whisper white card stock in black ink and colored with markers and adhered to a piece of black card stock. I attached the snowmen piece to the cuff of the mitten and stamped the sentiment using versa mark ink and embossed it with white embossing powder. You will definitely want to make sure you use your embossing buddy so that the embossing powder only adheres to the sentiment. Stamp the tag image on whisper white card stock and adhere to black card stock. Add the silver cord and attach to the mitten with a dimensional.

Single Sparkly Snowman

I still have a few more Christmas cards to post that I made this year. I'm not exactly sure of the actual number of Christmas cards I made this year but it was somewhere around 120. Since there is no sentiment on the front of this card it could be used for many occasions (birthday, thank you, just because, etc).
Here are the card stock measurements:
Baja Breeze Card Base - 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Riding Hood Red Layer - 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
Whisper White Embossed Panel - 2" x 5 1/4"
Ski Slope DSP Panel - 2" x 5 1/4"

The snowman was stamped on whisper white card stock in baja breeze ink and then the scarf, hat, buttons and nose were colored with markers. Using the 1 3/8" punch the stamped image was punched and adhered to a 2" circle of riding hood red card stock and then mounted to a 2 1/2" scalloped circle of baja breeze card stock. Dazzling diamonds glitter was added using a two-way glue pen on the snow and stickles were added to the snowflakes. The card base pieces were assembled and riding hood red striped grosgrain ribbon was added to hide the seam where the white card stock and dsp meet. This panel was adhered to the card base and the stamped image was attached with dimensionals.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Riding Hood Red, Baja Breeze, Ski Slope DSP; Ink: Baja Breeze, Markers; Stamps: Tags 'Til Christmas; Other: Riding Hood Red Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Dot Embossing Folder, Circle Punches, Scallop Circle Punch, Paper Piercing Tool, Mat Pack, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Stickles, Two-Way Glue Pen, Dimensionals

Cherry Cobbler Church

Just a quick card today. I still have a few last minute things to get done before the holidays. This was a very easy card to create. The card base is cherry cobbler card stock (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") with a piece of whisper white card stock (4" x 5 1/4") that was embossed with the snowflakes embossing folder adhered to the base card. The church image and sentiment were stamped with cherry cobbler ink on whisper white card stock and punch out with oval punches. The images were mounted to scalloped ovals in cherry cobbler card stock and were adhered to the card base with dimensionals.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler; Ink: Cherry Cobbler; Stamps: Winter Wonderland, Best Yet; Other: Snowflake Embossing Folder, Oval Punches, Scallop Oval Punches, Dimensionals

Just Ornaments

I had a few more Christmas cards to make and wanted to keep things fairly simple. I used the same stamps and layout for these two cards but changed the ribbon, paper and inks.
The following are the measurements for the card stock layers:
Ornament Panel - 4 1/4" x 3"
First Layer - 4 1/4" x 3 1/4"
Second Layer - 4 1/4" x 4" (after punching border)
Card Base - 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

In order to make sure the stamped images were straight I used my stamp-a-ma-jig (love that thing) and stamped from left to right. For the embossed ornaments I stamped the images with versa mark ink and embossed each one before adding the next one. Be sure to use your embossing buddy so that the embossing powder only sticks to the inked areas. If you wanted to "step it up" you could add rhinestones or pearls to the ornaments.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Certainly Celery, Old Olive, Brushed Silver, Brushed Gold; Ink: Certainly Celery, Old Olive, Black, Versa Mark; Stamps: Tree Trimmings; Other: Gold and Silver Embossing Powder, Ribbon, Fleur-De-Lis Border Punch, Frost White Shimmer Mist (Green Ornament Card)

Lets Go Sledding

This card wasn't as hard to create as I originally thought it would be. The trees were stamped on a piece of whisper white card stock (3" x 4") using black ink and then stamped on a piece of printer paper to create a mask to cover the bottom half of the window. A 1" circle was punched out of the sticky section of a post it note to create a mask for the moon. Using not quite navy and night of navy ink the top portion of the window was brayered over the stamped tree images and the masked moon. The children were stamped to the bottom section of the panel in going gray ink and then stamped in sahara sand ink onto the smooth side of a stamp-a-ma-jig panel and applied to the panel to create a shadow. The moon was sponged with so saffron, crushed curry and more mustard ink. The falling snow was added using a white gel pen. The stamped panel was then cut into 1 1/2" x 2" sections and adhered to soft suede card stock (3 3/8" x 4 3/8") to create the window. This panel was added to another piece of whisper white card stock (3 5/8" x 4 5/8"). The window sill section is a piece of soft suede card stock (5/8" x 3 5/8") that was embossed using distressed stripes embossing folder. The sentiment was stamped on whisper white card stock (3/8" x 2 7/8") with not quite navy ink and attached to the window sill section. A piece of not quite navy DSP (4" x 5 1/4") was attached to whisper white card stock (4 1/8" x 5 3/8") and then adhered to a not quite navy card stock card base (4 1/4" x 5 1/2"). The stamped window panel was adhered to the card base and stickles were added to highlight the snow to complete the card.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Soft Suede, Not Quite Navy, Not Quite Navy DSP; Ink: Black, Night of Navy, Not Quite Navy, Going Gray, Sahara Sand, So Saffron, Crushed Curry, More Mustard; Stamps: Lovely as a Tree, Welcome Christmas; Other: Brayer, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Brayer, Stickles, White Gen Pen, 1" Circle Punch, Stickles

Silver Trees

This is another simple yet elegant card. The trees and sentiment were stamped on whisper white card stock (3" x 4 1/4") with versa mark ink and embossed with silver embossing powder and adhered to brushed silver card stock (3 1/4" x 4 1/2"). A piece of whisper white card stock (4" x 5 1/4") was embossed with the swirls embossing folder, misted with frost white shimmer mist and mounted to a piece of brushed silver card stock (4 1/8" x 5 3/8") and the ribbon was added around this panel and mounted to the whisper white card base (4 1/4" x 5 1/2"). The stamped panel was mounted to the swirled panel with dimensionals. The "pearls" on the trees were added using white pearl dimensional paint. I really like how this turned out. This card has a real WOW factor to it but was very easy to create.

Wintery Scene

The inspiration for this card came from here. I kept my card simpler since I will be mailing these and didn't want the added layers. The images were stamped on real red card stock (3" x 4") with versa mark ink and embossed with white embossing powder. I stamped the snowflakes and trees again in real red which gives depth and shadows and then cleaned the red ink off of the embossed images with a tissue. Torn strips of white card stock were added on the real red layer to create snow drifts. The stamped image was mounted to black card stock (3 1/8" x 4 1/8") and then adhered with dimensionals to the white card base (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") that was embossed with the vintage wallpaper embossing folder. Icicle stickles were added to the snowdrifts to give the card a little sparkle.

Snowflakes and Crumb Cake

I'm not sure why but, I noticed that I've been using more crumb cake card stock this year when making my Christmas cards. Normally I use very vanilla with crumb cake but I wanted to stamp the snowflakes using white craft ink and really liked the crisp look of the white card stock. The snowflakes were stamped on crumb cake card stock (3 1/2" x 4 3/4") with white craft ink, once the craft ink was dry the snowflake piece was spritzed with champagne shimmer mist and layered onto whisper white card stock (3 3/4" X 5") and then the white taffeta ribbon was added around the stamped layer and then adhered to the crumb cake card stock base (4 1/4" x 5 1/2"). A white snowflake from felt flurries has a half pearl adhered with mini glue dots that was then attached to the ribbon knot with mini glue dots. A very clean and simple card.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Crumb Cake; Ink: White Craft; Stamps: Merry, Patterned Pines, Merry & Bright; Other: White Taffeta Ribbon, Felt Flurries, 1/2 Pearl, Mini Glue Dots

Santa with Trees

Another card using my Santa collage stamp. I stamped the trees using a glue pad on very vanilla card stock (4" x 5 1/4") and added blue ultra fine glitter. Once the images had set I sprayed the card with hairspray to set the glitter and then spritzed with champagne shimmer mist. The trees were layered onto bashful blue card stock (4 1/8" x 5 3/8") and then mounted to the marina mist card stock base (4 1/4" x 5 1/2"). The Santa image was stamped on very vanilla card stock (2" x 3") with basic brown ink and colored with markers. The beard was highlighted using a Sakura glitter pen and the frosted lace Stickles was added to the snowflakes. The image was mounted to bashful blue card stock (2 1/8" x 3 1/8") and then marina mist card stock (2 1/4" x 3 1/4") and then the blue snowflake brad was added. The layered Santa image was mounted to the card base with dimensionals.

Flocked Vintage Greeting Girl

I love the Greeting Card Kids stamp set. These images remind me of old fashioned Christmas cards that would have been seen during the Norman Rockwell era. The little girl was stamped on a 2 1/2" circle of whisper white card stock in black ink and colored with various SU markers. White flock was added to the hat, cuffs and bottom of the coat using a two-way glue pen. The image was mounted to a 3" scalloped circle of real red card stock. The Christmas Cocoa DSP was mounted to real red card stock (4 1/8" x 5 3/8"). The red flock piece measures 3" x 4" and the soft suede flocked piece measures 2 1/4" x 4". Real red satin ribbon was tied over the seam of the designer paper and then mounted to a whisper white card base (4 1/4" x 5 1/2"). The scalloped circle stamped image was mounted to the card using dimensionals.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Real Red, Christmas Cocoa DSP; Ink: Black, Various SU Markers; Stamps: Greeting Card Kids; Other: 2 1/2" Circle Punch, 3" Scallop Circle Punch, White Flock, Two-Way Glue Pen, Real Red Satin Ribbon, Dimensionals

Santa Postage

I'm still working on Christmas cards! I needed about 100 cards this year and I don't really like to mass produce one design since I own many stamps and I really want to use as many as I can. I try to create cards that won't take me an hour to make just one. This card came together very quickly and I ended up making four of them. The postage stamp image was stamped on very vanilla card stock using soft suede ink and then colored using a riding hood red marker. I cut around the edges of the image using Fiskars stamp scissors and mounted the images to riding hood red scallop squares. The crumb cake card base was stamped using soft suede ink and the images were off-stamped first to give a softer look. The scallop squares were mounted to a strip of very vanilla card stock (5 1/2" x 1 3/4"), layered on soft suede card stock (5 1/2" x 2") that was punch using the scallop border punch and then mounted to a strip of riding hood red card stock (5 1/2" x 2 1/4"). To complete the card the strip was centered on the stamped crumb cake card base (5 1/2" x 4 1/4").

Post Card Santa Redux

In this previous post the card was aged by sponging all the edges of the layers. For this card I kept it clean but added more layers. The Santa image was stamped on very vanilla card stock (1 7/8" x 2 7/8") with basic brown ink, colored with SU markers, highlighted with a sakura glitter pen, frosted lace stickles and crystal effects. The image was adhered to real red card stock (2" x 3") and old olive card stock (2 1/8" x 3 1/8"). The sentiments from the Winter Post set were stamped using real red ink on very vanilla card stock (3 7/8" x 5 1/8") and the snowflake from the same set were stamped using old olive ink that was off-stamped to create a softer image. The sentiment from the Merry stamp set was using real red ink over the snowflake image. The stamped layer was adhered to real red card stock (4" x 5 1/4") then old olive card stock (4 1/8" x 5 3/8"). A red snowflake from felt flurries was added to the layers in the upper right corner with a green rhinestone brad and then adhered to the very vanilla card base (4 1/4" x 5 1/2"). The Santa layered image was added to complete the card.

A Snowman Roasting Marshmallows?

This scenic image stamp from Darcie's was stamped on whisper white card stock (4 1/8" x 5 3/8") using basic brown ink. It is hard to see in the picture but all of the images were colored with Atyou Spica color glitter pens and the snowman and snow drifts were highlighted with an Atyou Spica clear glitter pen. This card is very sparkly but not overdone. White flock was added to the bunny, hats and marshmallow with a two-way glue pen. The stamped layer was adhered to a marina mist card stock base (4 1/4" x 5 1/2").

Scenic Trees

I really like the simplicity of this card and there shouldn't be any extra postage needed to mail it. The trees were inked in almost artichoke and the bird was colored with riding hood red marker then stamped on whisper white card stock (2 3/4" x 4") and the sentiment was stamped using almost artichoke ink. The stamped layer was mounted to almost artichoke card stock (2 7/8" x 4 1/8") and then layered on riding hood red card stock (3" x 4 1/4"). The snowdrifts were highlighted with frosted lace stickles. The card base is riding hood red card stock (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") layered with almost artichoke card stock (4 1/8" x 5 3/8") and whisper white card stock (4" x 5 1/4") that was embossed with the snowflake embossing folder that had been spritzed with frost white shimmer mist. Post Card Santa

Another card using the Santa Collage stamp. For this card I chose to age the card by sponging the edges of all the layers using soft suede ink. The Santa image was stamped on very vanilla card stock (2" x 3") using basic brown ink and colored with SU markers, highlighted with a sakura glitter pen and frosted lace stickles and layered on soft suede card stock (2 1/8" x 3 1/8"). The sentiments from the Winter Post set were stamped using soft suede ink on very vanilla card stock (4" x 5 1/2") and the snowflake from the same set was stamped using bashful blue ink that was off-stamped to get a lighter image. The sentiment from the Merry stamp set and was stamped using soft suede ink and stamped over the snowflake image. The stamped layer was mounted to soft suede card stock (4 1/8" x 5 3/8") and then adhered to a card base in crumb cake card stock (4 1/4" x 5 1/2"). The snowflake was created using the snowflake sizzlet and bashful blue card stock and glued to the card with tombow adhesive. The Santa image was attached and a rhinestone was added to the center of the snowflake.

Vintage Santa

I found this Santa Claus stamp at Michael's last year and I really like the vintage/old fashioned look of him. I have been trying to create a simple card that I can easily mass produce, won't cost me extra postage to mail and that has great design and style. This may be the card! I know it has several layers, but I have a difficult time creating single layer cards. This is about as simple as my Christmas cards get. I started with a piece of always artichoke card stock (4 1/8" x 5 3/8") layered with decorative paper (4" x 5 1/4"). The next layer is a piece of riding hood red card stock (3" x 4") layered with always artichoke (2 7/8" x 3 7/8") and a piece of decorative paper (2 3/4" x 3 3/4"). I added riding hood red taffeta ribbon and 2 red glitter brads over 1/2" circles of always artichoke card stock. This piece was adhered to a standard A2 card in riding hood red. The Santa image was stamped onto a piece of whisper white card stock (2" x 3") using basic brown ink and layered to a piece of riding hood red card stock (2 1/8" x 3 1/8") and a piece of always artichoke card stock (2 1/4" x 3 1/4"). The face was colored with blush blossom and the eyes with bashful blue. The glasses were outlined with a gold gel pen and crystal effects were used for the lenses. I used winter lace stickles for the snowflakes and a glitter pen for the beard. The stamped image was mounted to the card base using dimensionals.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Always Artichoke, Riding Hood Red, Decorative Paper; Ink: Basic Brown, Blush Blossom, Bashful Blue; Stamps: Santa Collage; Other: Riding Hood Red Taffeta Ribbon, Red Glitter Brads, 1/2" Circle Punch, Stickles, Glitter Pen, Gold Gel Pen, Dimensionals

Glittered Snowman

I've had this stamp for several years now and I think it has only been used twice. I decided that it needed to see some ink this year. I inked the stamp with basic brown ink and stamped it onto a piece of whisper white card stock (4" x 5 1/4") and adhered this stamped piece to a standard A2 card (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") in real red card stock. The images were colored using various SU markers and the dazzling diamonds glitter was added using a two-way glue pen. I added liquid applique to the snowman's hat, the penguin's hat and to the marshmallow and allowed it to dry overnight before using the heat gun. To add some snow highlights to the trees I used a white gel pen.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Real Red; Ink: Basic Brown, Various SU Markers; Stamps: Darcie's; Other: Two-way Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Liquid Applique

Cute Christmas Bird

Both of the stamps used on this card I found in the dollar bin at Michael's. The card base is a piece of garden green card stock (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") layered with a piece of wild wasabi card stock (4 1/8" x 3 1/8") that was embossed with the distressed stripes embossing folder and sponged using wild wasabi ink and a piece of DCWV paper (4 1/8" x 2 1/8") that was also sponged using wild wasabi ink. The wild wasabi stitched grosgrain ribbon was adhered over the seam using sticky strip tape. The bird was stamped on a piece of white card stock (1 7/8" square) and colored using SU markers. The bird image was then mounted to a piece of wild wasabi card stock (2" square) and attached to a piece of garden green card stock that was punched out using the scallop square punch. The sentiment was stamped in garden green to white card stock (7/8" x 2 1/2") mounted to a piece of wild wasabi card stock (1" x 2 5/8") and then attached to a piece of garden green card stock (1 1/8" x 2 3/4"). The stamped images were adhered to the card base using dimensionals, dew drops were added and liquid applique was applied to the bird's hat.

Door Wreath

Another wreath using the Martha Stewart branch punch. The sentiment was stamped in black ink onto a 1 3/4" circle of whisper white card stock and adhered to a 2" circle of old olive card stock. Seven branches were punched out of old olive card stock and glued to the 2" circle of old olive card stock. Once the glue was dry the wreath was attached to a 2 1/2" real red scallop circle and rhinestones and a red satin ribbon bow were attached. The card base is a standard A2 card in real red card stock. To create the look of a door, a piece of DCWV background paper with the look of wood grain measuring 3 1/2" x 4 3/4" was attached to chocolate chip card stock measuring 4" x 5 1/4". A strip of chocolate chip card stock measuring 1/4" x 4 3/4" and another measuring 1/4" x 3 1/2" were attached to the wood grain background paper to create the look of door panels. The wreath was attached with dimensionals to the top portion of the door.

For this card the poinsettia was stamped four times on very vanilla card stock using versa mark ink and then embossed with gold embossing powder. The bottom layer leaves and the top layer center were colored with kiwi kiss ink. Each layer was adhered with dimensionals and the entire flower was spritzed with gold pearl-ex shimmer mist. The flower layer was attached to a kiwi kiss piece of card stock that was punched around the entire border using the scallop trim border and corner punches. The gold beads were attached to the flower center using crystal effects. The card base is a 5 1/4" square card in kiwi kiss layered with a piece of 5" square very vanilla card stock that has kiwi kiss satin ribbon attached down the center. The flower layer was centered on the base and the ribbon bow was attached with mini glue dots.

Bell Wreath

I've seen various wreaths created using the Martha Stewart branch punch and really liked the look and decided to try it too. I don't know exactly how many branches I punched out but I know that there were over 24 branches used to create this wreath. The branches were attached to a 2" ring of old olive card stock using tombow adhesive. Once the wreath was completed the bells and ribbon bow were attached using sticky strip. The berry circles were punched using the 1/8" punch on the crop-a-dile and attached with tombow adhesive. Very vanilla card stock was embossed with the allegro embossing folder, spritzed with gold pearl-ex shimmer mist and attached to a real red card. The wreath and sentiment were attached using dimensionals.

Supplies Used: Paper: Very Vanilla, Real Red, Old Olive; Ink: Real Red; Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes; Other: Allegro Embossing Folder, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Martha Stewart Branch Punch, Crop-a-dile, Goldtone Bells, Red Satin Ribbon, Gold Pearl-Ex Shimmer Mist, Tombow Adhesive, Sticky Strip, Dimensionals

Baja Breeze Rudolph

Here is another version utilizing the same sketch (SC306) and the same stamp image as yesterday's post. Just by changing the card stock colors and DSP it has a totally different feel. The card base is a standard A2 card in whisper white card stock. The deer was stamped in close to cocoa ink on whisper white and mounted to a scallop circle in baja breeze. The layered piece starts with a piece of baja breeze card stock that measures 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" that has a piece of DSP adhered to it that measures 4" x 5 1/4" and then was embossed using the snowflake embossing folder. The middle band section has a piece of whisper white card stock measuring 4" x 1 1/2" that was embossed with the snowflake embossing folder adhered to a piece of baja breeze card stock measuring 4" x 1 5/8". The band was adhered to the bottom layer, ribbon and 2 rhinestone brads were added and the entire piece was adhered to the card base. The snowflakes were layered together using a rhinestone brad and attached to the ribbon knot using silver cord. The stamped image was adhered with dimensionals and the red rhinestone was attached for the nose and glitter was added.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Ski Slope DSP; Ink: Close to Cocoa; Stamps: Forest Friends; Other: Baja Breeze Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Circle Cutter, Large Scallop Circle Punch, Snowflake Embossing Folder, Felt Flurries Snowflakes, Rhinestone Brads, Red Rhinestone, Silver Cord, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Two-Way Glue Pen, Paper Piercing Tool, Mat Pack, Dimensionals

Country Rudolph

Now that I've completed and mailed the cards for the Hope You Can Cling To challenges that were on SCS it is time to start creating Christmas cards. I used the sketch challenge for this week from SCS (SC306) and this is what I created. The card base is a standard A2 card in very vanilla card stock and the deer image was stamped onto very vanilla using close to cocoa ink. I used a circle cutter to for the stamped image and the real red paper and adhered both to a large scalloped circle in chocolate chip. The layered paper starts with a piece of chocolate chip card stock that measures 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" to that I added a piece measures 4" x 3" (top portion) and a piece that measures 4" x 2 1/4" (bottom portion). The band section starts with a piece of chocolate chip card stock that measures 4" x 1 5/8" and a piece of DSP that measures 3 7/8" x 1 1/2" was adhered to that. The band piece was adhered to the bottom layer and then ribbon was added and the brad was attached to the top left corner. The entire layered piece was then attached to the card base and the stamped image was adhered with dimensionals. A red rhinestone was adhered for the nose and glitter was added. The branch pieces were punched from old olive card stock and glued under the knot in the ribbon.

Supplies Used: Paper: Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Old Olive, Ski Slope DSP; Ink: Close to Cocoa; Stamps: Forest Friends; Other: Circle Cutter, Large Scallop Circle Punch, Martha Stewart Branch Punch, Alpine Ribbon, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Red Rhinestone, Antique Brass Brad, Paper Piercing Tool, Mat Pack, Two-Way Glue Pen, Dimensionals

My Treasury Inspiration

This is the last card for the Hope You Can Cling To challenge. The last challenge was to select a "Treasury List" from Etsy as the inspiration for the card. My inspiration is called "S is for Silver, Santa and Snow!" I had originally intended to make a Christmas card but decided that the bigger challenge would be to make a card that had nothing to do with Christmas, Santa or snow. The hydrangea is stamped onto very vanilla card stock that measures 2 1/4" x 3 1/4" using basic gray ink. I stamped the main flower portion again on very vanilla and then cut it out and popped it up on the main flower using dimensionals. There were nine additional single blossoms stamped onto very vanilla using basic gray ink cut out and attached with dimensionals. The flower was spritzed with frost white shimmer mist and adhered to basic gray card stock measuring 2 3/8" x 3 3/8" then to very vanilla card stock measuring 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" and another layer of basic gray measuring 2 5/8" x 3 5/8". The sentiment was stamped with basic gray ink onto a 1/2" x 1 3/4" piece of very vanilla card stock and adhered to a piece of basic gray card stock measuring 5/8" x 1 7/8". The DSP measures 4" x 5 1/4" and is adhered to basic gray card stock measuring 4 1/8" x 5 3/8". Attach ribbon to the center of the DSP and basic gray card stock add 3 silver brads in the upper left corner and then adhere to the A2 card in very vanilla. Attach flower image to card base with dimensionals add the pearls to center of the nine single blossoms and attach sentiment to ribbon with silver cord.

Supplies Used: Paper: Very Vanilla, Basic Gray, Charbon DSP; Ink: Basic Gray; Stamps: Because I Care; Other: Basic Gray Taffeta Ribbon, Silver Brads, Silver Cord, Frost White Shimmer Mist, Pearls, Dimensionals

Best Wishes

Today's card is for a sketch challenge that was given for the Hope You Can Cling To challenges on Splitcoast. The card base is a standard A2 card in sage shadow card stock. Cut a piece of very vanilla card stock at 4" x 5 1/4" and stamp the script background in sage shadow ink, adhere the stamped panel to a piece of forest foliage card stock that measure 4 1/8" x 5 3/8". Attach forest foliage organdy ribbon to this panel and adhere to the sage shadow card base. Stamp the leaves using forest foliage ink to a piece of very vanilla card stock that measures 2 1/8" x 4" and spritz panel with frost white shimmer mist. Adhere the very vanilla stamped piece to sage shadow card stock that measures 2 1/4" x 4 1/8". Cut a piece of forest foliage card stock that measures 4 1/4" x 2 3/4" and punch along one side using the scallop trim border punch and then adhere your stamped image. Using forest foliage ink stamp your sentiment onto very vanilla card stock and punch out using the large oval punch and adhere this to a piece of forest foliage card stock that was punch out using the scallop oval punch. Attach all stamped pieces to the card front using dimensionals and your card is now complete.

Supplies Used: Paper: Very Vanilla, Sage Shadow, Forest Foliage; Ink: Sage Shadow, Forest Foliage; Stamps: Script, Kind & Caring Thoughts, Oval All; Other: Forest Foliage Organdy Ribbon, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Large Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Frost White Shimmer Mist, Dimensionals

Christmas Greeting

A very simple and quick card today. The card base is a piece of old olive card stock cut at 4 1/4" x 11" and scored at 5 1/2" to create the standard A2 card base. Cut a piece of bravo burgundy card stock that measures 4 1/8"x 5 3/8" and adhere a piece of 3" x 4" piece of holiday thyme designer paper to the bottom section and another contrasting piece of holiday thyme designer paper that measures 2 1/4" x 4" to the top section. Tie a length of burgundy ribbon around the section where the designer papers meet, attach the brads in upper left hand corner and adhere this piece to the old olive card base. Stamp the sentiment using bravo burgundy ink onto a piece of very vanilla card stock and punch out using the 1 3/4" round punch. Punch 2 contrasting pieces of holiday thyme designer paper using the 1 3/4" round punch. Using a circle cutter cut 3 circles from bravo burgundy card stock that measure 1 7/8" round and adhere your stamped image and the designer papers to these circles. Attach the circles to the card front with dimensionals and your card is now completed.

Supplies Used: Paper: Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Bravo Burgundy, Holiday Thyme DSP; Ink: Bravo Burgundy; Stamps: Christmas Greetings; Other: Burgundy Grosgrain Ribbon, Antique Brass Brads, Dimensionals

Coffee and Friends

What could be better than spending time with friends over a cup of coffee? Only one thing...having a piece of chocolate cake to go with it! I saw a tutorial on how to make this card here. I wanted to have it look like a coffee shop so I opted for the coffee cups and used close to cocoa card stock.

Supplies Used: Paper: Very Vanilla, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip; Ink: Black, Various SU Markers; Stamps: My Favorite Things - Hot Stuff: Other: Word Window Punch, Scallop Border Punch, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Dimensionals

Shimmered Butterfly

This is a very simple card but the butterfly image can stand on its own without a lot of other elements. The butterfly was stamped using versa mark ink onto a piece of whisper white card stock and embossed with black embossing powder. The butterfly was colored using a stipple brush and pastels. Once I had completed adding the pastels to my liking I sealed it with hairspray and then spritzed the entire piece using frost white shimmer mist and then spritzed it again using silver pearl ex powder mixed with hairspray. It is hard to see the shimmer in to photo but it is there. The butterfly was attached to a piece of basic black card stock and then the dew drops and rhinestones were adhered. After attaching the butterfly to the main card panel I stamped the sentiment so that it would be centered under the butterfly.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Bashful Blue, Lavender Lace; Ink: Versa Mark, Black; Stamps: Stipple Butterfly, Wonderful Words; Other: Black Embossing Powder, Stampin' Pastels, Frost White Shimmer Mist, Silver Pearl Ex Mist, Rhinestones, Dew Drops

Owl Friends

Only a few more days for me to finish creating cards for the Hope You Can Cling To challenges on Splitcoast. This card was created for the "cancer is for the birds" challenge, which was to create a card using bird stamps. Among all the bird stamps I have, I really wanted to use this owl. I stamped the owl twice in cajun craze ink onto whisper white card stock and cut them out. I punched two branches in old olive card stock using the two step bird punch. The sentiment was stamped with chocolate chip ink onto the whisper white panel and the branches were glued over the sentiment using tombow glue. The owls were attached with dimensionals along the branches and then adhered to the baja breeze panel. A barely banana circle was punched out using a 1 3/4" circle punch and attached behind the baja breeze panel. The other elements were attached to the main card and the stamped image panel was attached with dimensionals.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Old Olive, Barely Banana, Welcome Neighbor DSP; Ink: Cajun Craze, Chocolate Chip; Stamps: Animal Stories, Cheep Talk; Other: Two Step Bird Punch, 1 3/4" Circle Punch, MS Seam Binding Ribbon, Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Tombow Glue, Dimensionals

Hershey Kiss Roses

This was created for a co-worker. I had made something for her previously and she liked it so much that she asked me to make something to give as a wedding present. I wanted it to look more like a rose and not be so obvious that they were Hershey kisses. Each Hershey kiss rose was wrapped using the decorative petals that can be found at almost any craft store in the wedding section. Some roses have 2 petals and some have 3. There are 25 flowers in the vase and each one has a dollar bill attached to it. To make the vase look fuller some of the roses also had gold tulle attached. The vase was filled with glass floral pebbles to keep the roses in place and wrapped with an organdy ribbon bow.

Petal Punch Treat Holders

I have seen these treat holders everywhere and I'm not sure where the idea originated from but I had to try to make them. I'm sure mine are similar to some that are already out there but these are my versions. Everything I used from paper to punches is from Stampin' Up except for the Frankenstein hair which was created using the Martha Stewart icicle border punch.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Naturals White, Basic Black, Green Galore, Pumpkin Pie, Eggplant Envy, Real Red, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive; Ink: Black, Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red; Stamps: Autumn Harvest; Punches Used: Petal Card, Large Oval, Word Window, Scallop Oval, Two-Step Owl, 1/4" Circle, 1/2" Circle, 1" Circle, Crop-a-Dile, MS Icicle Border; Other: Silver Brads, White Gel Pen, Tombow Glue

Button Ornaments

This card came together very quickly. The ornament hangers and the sentiment were stamped using versa mark ink and embossed with silver embossing powder. The buttons were threaded with silver cord and adhered with mini glue dots. The stamped panel was mounted to a piece of night of navy card stock that was embossed with silver embossing powder around the edges. Of course you could achieve a similar effect by adhering the night of navy panel to a piece of brushed silver card stock. With some minor changes this card could easily be mass produced. For mass production I would eliminate the embossing and stamp the ornament hangers and sentiment with black ink. Instead of buttons you could punch out circles of decorative paper for the ornaments.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Night of Navy, Festive Finery DSP; Ink: Versa Mark; Stamps: Tree Trimmings, Scenic Season; Other: Buttons, Silver Cord, Silver Embossing Powder, Mini Glue Dots

Friendly Monsters

This card was inspired by the card I saw here. I changed some things from the original idea but to me the point of CASing something is to make it your own. My little monsters all have noses and none of them have fangs. With the exception of the ribbon and the googlie eyes, everything is from Stampin' Up. This was very easy to create and took hardly any time at all to put together. This will be for my grandson for Halloween. He is 2 1/2 and I didn't want to give him something that was too scary and these monsters seem friendly.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Only Orange, Yoyo Yellow, Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore, Creepy Crawly DSP; Ink: Black; Other: 2 Step Owl Punch, Large Star Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch, Work Window Punch, Horizontal Slot Punch, Googlie Eyes, Black Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon, Sticky Strip Tape, Tombow Glue, Crystal Effects

Pink & Girly

I can't believe the challenges will be over in a few days. Don't worry though you can enter until November 7, 2010 to be eligible for prizes and support a great cause. This is the card I made for the "All About Girls in Pink" challenge. I knew that I wanted to paper piece this dress and when I found my DCWV glittery card stock I knew this dress would look great. I stamped the dress and the shoes onto the pink glittered card stock and cut them out. The dress image was stamped onto white card stock in versa mark ink and embossed with black embossing powder and the shoes were stamped with black ink onto white card stock. I adhered the dress and shoe cutout pieces onto the stamped images using tombow glue. I inked the embossing folder with pink pirouette and embossed a piece of white card stock cut at 4"x 5 1/4" and assembled the card.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Blushing Bride, DCWV Glitter Stack; Ink: Versa Mark, Black, Pink Pirouette; Stamps: Haute Couture; Other: Black Embossing Powder, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Large Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Heart Block Embossing Folder, MS Pink Seam Binding, Heart Charm, Dimensionals

Girlfriends

This is another challenge card and the challenge was to incorporate sewing/stitching with friendship. I didn't really want to set my sewing machine up so I opted to add a little faux stitching to this card. I also think the grid design on the green paper looks like stitching and I didn't have to do anything to it. This card came together fairly quickly. It took me longer to paper pierce and highlight with my white gel pen than it did to stamp and color my image. I wish I would have used my blender pen with the blush blossom ink since the skin looks a little blotchy. You don't notice it so much in person but apparently the camera picks up every little mistake.

Supplies Used: Paper: Very Vanilla, Barely Banana, Always Artichoke, Spring Flowers DSP; Ink: Black, Various SU Markers; Stamps: Pocket Fun, Edgy Eloquence; Other: Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Paper Piercing Tool, Mat Pack, White Gel Pen, Always Artichoke Grosgrain Ribbon, Dimensionals

Thanks

This is another card for the challenges I been participating in on Splitcoast. This challenge was called 3...2...1... and the challenge was to use 3 design papers, 2 embellishments and 1 ribbon. The embellishments had to be things like brads, eyelets, buttons and not glitter, glimmer mist, sparkly fluff, etc. Of course I have 3 design papers and I even paper pieced the dress with one of them, my embellishments are wire and dew drops and 1 ribbon. I had a hard time deciding what embellishments to use and chose to "highlight" the steam from the coffee mug with wire and add the 3 dew drops to the upper left corner.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Cameo Coral, DCWV Stack; Ink: Black, Cameo Coral, Blush Blossom, Creamy Caramel; Stamps: Hot Stuff (My Favorite Things); Other: Camelia Pink MS Seam Binding, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Dew Drops, Wire

Sunflowers

Almost no stamping on this card but lots of punch art. The sunflowers were created using the 5 petal flower punch (4 for each flower) with summer sun card stock, the 1" circle punch for the flower centers with chocolate chip card stock and the 2 step bird punch wing for the leaves with old olive card stock. After punching out all the elements I used the square lattice embossing folder for the petals, the dot embossing folder for the flower centers and the herringbone embossing folder for the leaves. The grass was created using the MS icicle border punch. The flowers were assembled with mini glue dots and the flowers, stems and leaves were attached to the card front with tombow glue.

Supplies Used: Paper: Very Vanilla, Summer Sun, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive; Ink: Chocolate Chip; Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes; Other: 5 Petal Flower Punch, 1" Circle Punch, 2 Step Bird Punch, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Large Oval Punch, Embossing Folders, Antique Brass Brads, Dimensionals

Dance and Sing

This card is so bright you might need sunglasses to look at it. Normally I wouldn't put pink and orange together but when I found this paper in my stash I just had to use it. Since I was only stamping the sentiment for this card it doesn't compete with the background paper. The scallop border around the sentiment was achieved using the 2 3/8" scallop circle punch and cutting the scallops apart to fit around the oval. I punched 2 scallop circles to have enough scallops to go around the oval. This is a 5" square card and the scalloped oval extends about 1/4" over the top so it will still fit in SU's square envelopes.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Only Orange, Pink Passion, Sassy DSP; Ink: Black; Stamps: Dance Sketches; Other: Oval Cutter, 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch, Dew Drops, Ribbon (Michael's), Dimensionals

Happiness by the Sea

I'm trying to improve my water coloring abilities and this stamp lends itself very nicely to water coloring. This turned out better than I thought it would since this is only my 2nd time water coloring. The image was stamped onto watercolor paper with black staz-on ink and I used watercolor pencils and an aqua painter to color the image with. I'm not sure the background paper really goes with the image but I wanted something fun and colorful. The paper was purchased at Jo Ann's so I don't know what company this is from. The paper was embossed with the floral fantasy embossing folder and the images on the paper are similar to the images on the embossing folder.

Supplies Used: Paper: Watercolor Paper, Pink Passion, Early Espresso, Background Paper (unknown); Ink: Black Staz-on, Early Espresso; Stamps: Summer By the Sea; Other: Watercolor Pencils, Aqua Painter, Satin Ribbon, Floral Fantasy Embossing Folder

Vintage Victorian

Here is another card for the Hope You Can Cling To challenges on Splitcoast Stampers. The challenge was to create a vintage looking card and if you used pink, even better. I think these ornaments look very vintage Victorian. The smaller ornaments were inked with regal rose and then off stamped to achieve a softer color. The large center ornament was stamped with pretty in pink and spritzed with frost white shimmer mist to give it a soft glow and then added to the panel with dimensionals. The pink rhinestone on the small ornament was centered on the flower image and I think it brings some balance to the panel since it helps to keeps the eye moving instead of focusing on the ribbon and lace. I love the look of the lace over the gathered ribbon.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose; Ink: Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Early Espresso; Stamps: Tree Trimmings, Holidays & Wishes; Other: Fairy Tale Ribbon Originals, Lace Trim, Pink Rhinestone Brad, Frost White Shimmer Mist, Textile Embossing Folder, Dimensionals

Let's Go Skiing

I pulled this stamp set out and was determined to make a card using it. I really like all the images in this set but the background paper was about skiing and snowboarding so I stamped the ice skates and just trimmed the blades off. Now they are ski or snowboard boots. This is another card for the Hope You Can Cling To challenges. The challenge was to have the image popped up off of the paper and both the boots and the circle are popped up with dimensionals.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Real Red, Real Red DSP, DCWV Christmas Pack; Ink: Real Red, Chocolate Chip; Stamps: Bundle Up, Darcies "Happy Freezin' Season"; Other: Circle Cutter, Swirls and Snowflakes Embossing Folders, Kraft Grosgrain Ribbon, Felt Snowflake, Rhinestone Brad, Dimensionals

Quilt Patches

This stamp set is probably over 10 years old and when I was going through my Christmas stamp sets I decided to bring this out and work with it. The images are very country quilt looking to me. Each image was stamped twice so that I could cut out the main image and attach it with dimensionals to the squares. The squares were cut out and attached to a scallop square and then the cut out image was attached with dimensionals. The buttons were threaded with linen thread and attached with mini glue dots. Once all the coloring and piecing was completed this card came together fairly quickly with the help of a sketch challenge from Splitcoast Stampers (SC285).

Supplies Used: Paper: Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Merry Moments DSP; Ink: Black, Real Red, Wild Wasabi, Creamy Caramel; Stamps: Winter Patches; Other: Buttons, Linen Thread, Chocolate Chip Felt Ribbon, 1 1/4" Square Scallop Punch, Scallop Border Punch, Paper Piercing Tool w/Mat, Mini Glue Dots, Dimensionals

Eskimo Girl

I tried completing this card yesterday but no matter what I did nothing seemed to work. I thought about leaving it with no extra embellishments but it just didn't seem finished. I tried to add narrow ribbon, wide ribbon, felt snowflakes, corduroy buttons, etc and nothing seemed to work so I set it aside and came back to it today. I added the rhinestones to her coat and 3 dew drops and decided I was happy with the results.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Baha Breeze, Old Olive, K & Co DSP; Ink: Chocolate Chip, Baha Breeze, Regal Rose; Stamps: Polar Pals; Other: Dot Embossing Folder, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Dew Drops, Rhinestones, 2-Way Glue Pen, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Dimensionals

All About The Ribbon

I've had this decorative paper for years now and as I've stated in many of my posts "I really want to use the supplies I already have". Of course that will take years! Can you believe a card with no stamping?! I really like how this card turned out and what a great way to use decorative paper. The hardest part is getting all the scallops lined up and spaced about the same. Each layer is adhered with dimensionals. But to me the star of the card is the ribbon, snowflakes and button. Just by changing the paper and embellishments this card could be used for almost any occasion.

Supplies Used: Paper: Very Vanilla, Real Red, Cerise DSP; Other: Scallop Border Punch, Rhinestones, Real Red Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Button, Acetate Snowflake, Little Felt Flurries, Narrow Red Ribbon, Dimensionals

Old Fashioned Christmas Card

I really like the distressed look of this card. It kind of looks like something that has been around for years maybe even antique and even the ribbon looks aged and worn. The main image was stamped onto white card stock and cut out using an oval cutter. All of the edges of the card stock and designer paper were sponged using crumb cake ink. Once the main image was colored dazzling diamonds glitter was added using the 2 way glue pen. The organdy ribbon was heated using the heat gun to get the distressed look. You only need to heat it for a very short period of time and keep the heat gun moving to avoid creating holes and melting the ribbon.

Supplies Used: Paper: Whisper White, Pink Pirouette, Real Red, Pear Pizazz, Real Red DSP, Bella Rose DSP; Ink: Black, Pink Pirouette, Rose Red, Pear Pizazz, Real Red, Crumb Cake; Stamps: Greeting Card Kids; Other: Oval Cutter, Oval Scallop Punch, Scallop Border Punch, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Two-Way Glue Pen, Pink Organdy Ribbon, Dimensionals
